8:30am to 12:00pm. Get your tail moving and join the Belleville Area Humane Society's annual Race for Rescues at Belleville West High School. You can race on your own or with your dog. They will be holding a timed event for both humans and canines. The top three division winners in each age group will receive a shiny medal and bragging rights! Top three overall winners in both the male and female divisions will receive trophies. Participants of all ages and physical capabilities welcome - and - they are having a one mile fun run and kid's fun run this year. Come out for exercise and excitement to help raise money for shelter animals. They will be showing off some of their adoptable buddies and selling other BAHS t-shirts - so come even if you can't run.
After the race, The Egg & I Restaurants will be cooking up some post-race pancakes.
Pre-registration is $25 for adults. Race day entries will be $30. (Include a short sleeve t-shirt while supplies last.) Long sleeved shirts are already sold out. Register by phone, in person at the shelter, or online. Packets may be picked up at the Belleville Area Humane Society (1301 South 11th Street, Belleville, IL) on Thursday, April 19th from 11-5 or Saturday, April 21st from 11-3. All remaining packets will be available after 7:30 AM on the event date at Belleville West High School.
All participants are invited to bring their leashed and vaccinated 4-legged friends to the race. Refreshments, snacks, and awards ceremony following the race! Your dog can also be timed to win a "medal". They must be registered in order to be eligible for competition. There is a $5 fee and they will receive a red bandana. If you are walking your dog and do not want a bandana or for them to be timed, there is NO additional fee.
PACKET PICK-UP INFO: Packets may be picked up at BAHS starting Thursday, April 19th from 11am-5pm or Saturday, April 21st from 11am-3pm. All remaining packets will be available after 7:30am on the event date at Belleville West.
