Giving Tuesday
Tue Nov, 28 2017 (All day)
(no physical location)

12:00am to 11:59pm. (Online fundraiser.) Giving Tuesday refers to the Tuesday after Thanksgiving in the United States. It is a movement to create an international day of giving at the beginning of the Christmas and holiday season. Giving Tuesday was started in 2012 by the 92nd Street Y and the United Nations Foundation, as a response to commercialization and consumerism in the post-Thanksgiving season (Black Friday and Cyber Monday). Giving Tuesday has been praised as an antidote to consumer culture and as a way for people to give back.

Giving Tuesday follows "Black Friday" and "Cyber Monday", the two busiest shopping days of the year where the focus is "getting". In contrast, Giving Tuesday is a day to focus on GIVING to charity to help make your community a better place. Consider a gift to an animal welfare organization.
